This 2 credit CE, reading-based asynchronous distance course was developed in 2025. This course will familiarize Social Workers with a beginner's level of child abuse and neglect. Please note that there is audio available for the course curriculum portion of this CE. There is no audio available for the course quiz or course evaluation.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Define child abuse and neglect in accordance with legal and social work standards.
2. Identify physical, behavioral, and environmental indicators of abuse and neglect.
3. Describe the four primary categories of child maltreatment: physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.
4. Explain the role and responsibilities of mandated reporters, including when and how to report suspected abuse.

This is a Beginner's-level course intended for all education levels of the Social Work profession.

How To Receive Credit:
